You want to increase your conversion rate within your Magento 2 webshop, but where do you start? Magento 2 is a powerful platform on which many a webshop is run. You as an entrepreneur know that it has a lot to offer. You also know that it can be quite complex software. Getting started yourself in Magento seems complicated.
Still, there are some things you can do yourself. Whether it's setting something up, or making sure the information you provide is of the best quality. That way, you don't always have to outsource everything. In this blog, we explain a few things you can do to increase the quality of your web shop and thus your conversion.
Product pages
You may not have the technical knowledge to design the page, but you do have influence on the information that will appear there. Visitors to your website and webshop want to be well informed. And you can certainly do something about that yourself.
First of all, make sure the product descriptions are clear. Do not use complicated terms and highlight the benefits of the product. In addition, use high-quality and multiple images for each product from different angles.
Finally, it is important to keep the prices up to date and that the stock is also correct. You need to avoid potential buyers putting something in their shopping cart only to find out at checkout that the product is not available. You can do this through Catalog > Stock > Stock Management.
Promotional banners
Add promotional banners to your homepage or category pages. This can be done via Content > Design > Blocks. The visitor to your website will see the current offer, key information and/or your latest product at a glance.
Pricing rules and discounts
Set discounts for certain product categories or customer segments. You can do this through Marketing > Catalog Pricing Rules. You can also offer discounts on, for example, the cart total or specific products in the cart via Marketing > Cart Price Rules.
Customer reviews
It helps sales tremendously if potential buyers can read whether the product has met the expectations of previous buyers. Therefore, make it possible for customers to leave reviews. You can do this through Stores > Configuration > Catalog > Product reviews.
SEO Settings
Meta tags: Add meta-titles and descriptions to your products and categories. You can do this through Catalog > Products and Catalog > Categories.
URL rewrites: Provide clean and descriptive URLs for your products and categories. By this we mean www.jouwwebshop.nl/schoenen/heren/bruin/maat42. Don't use internal codes or other obscure descriptions. Keep it as simple as possible.
Email Marketing
Letting your customers know about offers or other fun things is easiest through newsletters. Make sure that customers can easily sign up for the newsletter.
Set up automatic emails for shopping cart abandonment and post-purchase follow-up. Many people leave a shopping cart without actually making a purchase. When you can reach them, you have a better chance that the purchase will actually still be made.
Payment and shipping methods
Offering various payment methods ensures that customers can checkout in their preferred way. Think iDeal, credit card and PayPal. Post-payment providers are also very popular. This can be done through Stores > Configuration > Sales > Payment methods.
In addition, offer different shipping options, including free shipping over a certain amount. This can be done through Stores > Configuration > Sales > Shipping.
Analyze and optimize
Link your Magento store to Google Analytics to get detailed statistics. You can do this through Stores > Configuration > Sales > Google API.
Use the built-in reporting tools to gain insight into your sales numbers and customer behavior. You can do this through Reports > Sales and Reports > Customers.
Getting started yourself
We've highlighted a few things you can do yourself. Providing your shop with up-to-date information is already half the work. And a nice picture also does a lot for sales. Of course, there are also things you can't do yourself. Or you don't want to work in Magento yourself. That's where we come in.
